Chef Zach Friedman infuses his fine dining culinary background into every dish at Charley’s Pier Restaurant.
Zach Friedman serves as the newly appointed Head Chef at Charley’s and brings his unique cooking talents to Westchester’s Premier Waterfront dining establishment. Born and raised in NYC, Chef Zach comes from humble beginnings. From as long as he can remember, he has always been around food, with both parents cooking and his father’s best friend being a chef. His culinary career began early on. After high school, he’d held a job – just a job, not a calling – as a dishwasher. He quickly advanced from washing dishes to prep cook to working on the line. So, when he decided cooking was a bona-fide career option, he enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America, NY from where he graduated in 2000.
The defining moment that will drive his passion for cooking and food came in 2002 when he joined Chanterelle -the award-winning, critically acclaimed restaurant in New York City. Under Executive Chef and owner David Waltuck, Chef Zach came to realize that fine dining could be executed in a family style operation. It also forged his philosophy of staying grounded in the classics where the respect of traditions allows for creativity and improvisation. Most importantly, Chef Zach is taste-driven rather than trend-driven.
Over the years, Chef Zach drew his culinary inspiration from his enthusiasm to unite people through food. “Food is about love and care. Nothing brings people together like a great meal” says Friedman. Chef Zach Friedman will satisfy any craving with our signature seafood dishes, Maine lobsters or freshly caught fish. On the menu, you will also find the old American favorites such as the Boardwalk Cheeseburger and Barbecue Baby Back Ribs or new ones, like the Fried Chicken Sandwich.
When not in the kitchen, Chef Zach can be found outside, spending time with his family, exploring a new town, or hiking in the woods.
